Arsenal forward Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain insists they should not fear Bayern Munich when they face them in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The last 16 first leg tie will be the seventh time Arsene Wenger's side have played the Bundesliga champions since February 2013, having won two and drawn one of their last six meetings. Bayern knocked the Gunners out at this stage of the competition in both the 2012/13 and 2013/14 campaigns.

Bayern ran out 5-1 winners in their last meeting during last season's group stages, although Arsenal had won the first game 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium, and Oxlade-Chamberlain also recalled the 2-0 home defeat in February 2014 after goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was red carded.

But the England international is keen to take the positives from their previous encounters with Bayern as they prepare to go head-to-head again in Germany.

"I can remember a time... we lost to them at the Emirates when I think Wojciech might have got sent off in the first half," Oxlade-Chamberlain told Arsenal Player.

"But I remember in the first 20 minutes of that game being really strong and we felt like we were dominating them.

"We had the crowd behind us and we had that belief and the way we were playing, we were causing them a lot of trouble.

Arsenal prepare for Champions League clash with Bayern Munich

"So we've had good experiences and we've had bad experiences and you know, there's times when we've struggled against them and it proves what a great team they are, and there's times where we've turned up and we've done really well and it proves they're not immortal.

"They're a very good team, but so are we if we play as good as we can on the day. We can cause them enough troubles and go on and win.

"Obviously we've had a few good experiences at the Allianz too. I think we've drawn once, a tough game and obviously we've won there [a 2-0 victory in 2013].

"So we've proved enough to ourselves over the years that we're good enough to come away with the right result, we just need to focus on how we're going to do it and come up with the plan and then it's all about delivering on the day and that's going to be the difference."
