On Tuesday's Revista de La Liga programme, Hunter and Gibson also chose their moment and honourable mention of an entertaining 2016/17 campaign...

Graham Hunter

Player of the season: Isco. There are a dozen candidates, and he didn't start so many games, but we're all here for the love of football. He's made Madrid look beautiful, has taken his chances. He'll do for me!

Manager of the season: Zinedine Zidane. If he wins in Cardiff, it will be the single greatest season in their history. They're the greatest club the world has ever seen, but we all know since 1958 they haven't won the league and European Cup in one season. They're world champions too, four trophies in 17 months. It's Zizou by a country mile, and he makes it all look so much fun,.

Moment of the season: Lionel Messi's winner against Real Madrid. We're watching it, Real have got a draw and will win the title, then, who's that? It's that little Argentinian, oh my goodness, it's Messi. That's the moment of our lives let alone the season! How does he keep surprising us given what we've seen so far? Magic.

Honourable mention: Alaves. Beyond the idea that they're in the Copa del Rey final, which is thrilling, to take a manager [Mauricio Pellegrino] in at the start of the season and choose the 16 players they have brought in, is brilliant. It's the sign of a clever club doing things at high speed. I've enjoyed watching them.

Terry Gibson

Player of the season: Sergio Ramos. Another player that explains what Madrid are all about. I think the important, decisive goals he's scored when his side are losing, dragging them up onto their feet to win draw or to win. It was between him and Marcelo, two influential players at Real Madrid, and I've gone for the goals.

Manager of the season: Zinedine Zidane. I'm pleased, I was always hoping for the day Zidane became manager of Real Madrid, and it did come earlier than we all thought, and I'm thrilled that he's made this success of it.

Lionel Messi provided the moment of the season at the Bernabeu in April

Moment of the season: Lionel Messi's winner against Real Madrid. It was the drama of the game too, Real Madrid getting back on level terms with 10 men but still piling forward. It was a fantastic Clasico, rounded off by a wonderful goal. It was typical Barcelona, and that was a superb Clasico.

Honourable mention: It has to be Eibar. A club with a 5,000-capacity stadium, the way that Eibar is run from top to bottom is fantastic. They didn't have their second half of the season collapse like they have in the past, and they're getting better every season. They've been superb.
