David Luiz will be fit for Chelsea's Champions League trip to Atletico Madrid despite a broken wrist, according to Antonio Conte.

Luiz suffered the injury when he collided with advertising boards during Sunday's goalless draw with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

A red card later in the same game meant the centre-half missed Wednesday's League Cup win over Nottingham Forest, and suspension will keep him out of Chelsea's next two Premier League games.

The Brazil international is eligible for European competition, though, and Conte expects him to play in Spain on Wednesday.

"He must be okay," Conte said. "David is an important player for us. For sure he will be ready for the game against Atletico Madrid."
