There had been some conjecture about Coutinho and Firmino's return to action, with the pair turning out for Brazil in the 3-0 win over Chile in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

But Jurgen Klopp welcomed back the duo for training at Melwood on Thursday, along with likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Marko Grujic and Ragnar Klavan who have all been in international action this week.

Liverpool will be without Sadio Mane for this weekend's visit of Jose Mourinho's side, with the Senegalese international facing six weeks on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring on international duty.

Adam Lallana almost certainly misses out as well after the England international was sent to the Aspire Clinic in Qatar earlier this week to step up his recovery from a thigh injury.

That could see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain make his first Premier League start for Liverpool following his £40m Deadline Day move from Arsenal.
