Only four sides have had more points after 22 games of a second-tier season than their current total of 51 and all of them went on to win the title and promotion.

Wolves are currently averaging 2.32 points per game and should they maintain or improve this form Reading's Football League record of 106 points in 2005-06 could be under threat.

Solace for Sunderland

After nearly a year and a record 21 games in all competitions, Sunderland fans were able to celebrate a home win on Saturday when they beat Fulham 1-0 at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats' run included a club record 20 home league games without a win beating the previous club record of 18 league games set in 2005-06. Strangely, current Sunderland manager Chris Coleman was also involved in ending the previous record run in May 2006 when his Fulham side were defeated at the Stadium of Light.

Duck breaker

League One

Blackburn's win against Charlton at Ewood Park on Saturday was their sixth successive league win, their best run for over 17 years. The only side currently on a longer winning streak in all four English Divisions is Manchester City who have won their last 16 Premier League games.

League Two

Leaders Luton have now scored 51 league goals this season and are the first EFL team to reach the half-century mark. Unsurprisingly, Manchester City with 56 are the only side in England with more league goals to their name this season.
