Sunderland host Burton in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday knowing a draw could condemn both to relegation.
The loser at the Stadium of Light will be relegated if Bolton and Birmingham avoid defeat against Wolves and Sheffield United respectively, while if it's a draw then both teams will be relegated if Bolton and Birmingham win.
"Going into it we have got to keep doing what are doing, always being in games and showing a bit of character when we are up against it," said Sunderland boss Chris Coleman. "Five o'clock on Saturday evening will tell a story.
"It could be one or the other we just don't know yet. We are still fighting, and we are still in there so let's see what the story is at 5pm on Saturday evening. For both teams it is a do or die case. We have got to approach the next game like it is our last."
While Burton boss Nigel Clough added: "We're expecting a battle up there. Chris won't want to go down without a fight - none of us do."
Wolves, meanwhile, can win the title with a point, and they'll be guaranteed the trophy if Cardiff slip up against Nottingham Forest in the evening kick-off, live on Sky Sports Football.
The scrap for the play-off places continues and the key match comes at Pride Park where seventh-place Derby host Middlesbrough.
Preston will be hoping to take advantage of any slip-ups above them when they face Norwich at Deepdale, while Brentford and Bristol City will aim to keep their chances alive at home to QPR and Hull respectively.
At Hillsborough Sheffield Wednesday host Reading.
