Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City team got a hostile reception on the streets of Liverpool

Jugen Klopp has warned Liverpool fans not to attack Roma's team bus when it takes the same route as Manchester City's ambushed coach.

City's team bus was badly damaged by objects thrown by supporters along Arkles Lane as they arrived for their Champions League quarter-final first leg earlier this month, which Liverpool won 3-0.

Liverpool apologised to City before kick-off and said they "condemn in the strongest possible terms the scenes" outside the ground, in which two police officers were injured.

Roma's team coach will arrive at Anfield via the same route as Man City's for Tuesday's semi-final, Liverpool have confirmed.

The route takes the buses down Arkles Lane, past the Arkles Pub before making a right turn onto Anfield Road.

We don't need to throw whatever at the bus of the opponent's team.

"I think that is really clear, in the stadium do it again and better," Klopp said. "Outside the stadium, please show the respect we have to show.

"This is such a fantastic football club, such an outstanding football family known for fantastic atmospheres around the world, so we don't need to throw whatever at the bus of the opponent's team."

Liverpool were charged by UEFA for the use of pyrotechnics and could see ticket allocations being reduced at games in the future as a result.

Merseyside Police have vowed to crack down on any fan disturbances and Liverpool City Council has provided mobile CCTV to assist their efforts on Tuesday, while specially trained dogs will be on hand to detect pyrotechnics such as fireworks and flares.

Liverpool also warned "supporters who do ignite such devices will face arrest and prosecution".

"Please show them [Roma] the respect they deserve," Klopp added. "We are only opponents on the pitch, that is the game. This wonderful city can show everyone how wonderful it is.

"We can show how wonderful Liverpool people, the city and the spirit of the club are, 20 minutes before the game and then the whole world knows it."
