Russian side FC Rostov have already taken more than 500 orders for their new fourth kit based on a "lucky carpet".

The elaborately-patterned design went on presale earlier this week, inspired after a Rostov fan brought a carpet to their clash with newly-promoted Yenisey Krasnoyarsk as he apparently had no space for it in his new home.

Rostov went on to win the game 4-0 and the carpet was quickly picked up as a lucky omen, the fan involved even being spotted in the crowd on a live television broadcast waving the carpet during one of their goal celebrations.

Their opponents even accused Rostov of some kind of carpet-based wizardry on Twitter.

Such was the reaction, Rostov placed an advert for their new fourth kit on their shop site earlier this week, with demand coming from across Europe for the 2,500 ruble (£30) shirt.

FC Rostov have made a decent start to the Russian Premier League season, with three wins from four matches, and they are next in action on Friday when they travel to face Arsenal Tula.

Whether they ever wear the new kit in a game remains to be seen...
