La Liga round-up

Mallorca mounted an amazing fightback to claim a 3-2 win over Numancia - a win which takes them off the foot of the table.

The battle of the basement boys in Spain looked to be heading Numancia's way as they were cruising to victory thanks to goals from Luis Tevenet and Juan Moreno.

However, Hector Cuper's side have found a steely resolve and three goals in the final ten minutes saw the Balearic Islanders take the spoils.

Andrija Delibasic set the ball rolling but it was Luis Garcia who proved to be the hero as he netted twice to sink Numancia.

Real Madrid lost further ground on Barcelona as they were held to a 0-0 draw at Villarreal.

Second-half goals by Julio Baptista and Dominguez Carlos kept Sevilla's quest for a Uefa Cup spot on track as they proved too strong for Athletic Bilbao.

Espanyol's fortunes have turned around following last term's troubles and Raul Tamudo kept their push for a European place on track with the only goal of the game at Real Zaragoza.

An injury time goal from Walter Pandiani denied Racing Santander a win against Deportivo La Coruna.

Racing seemed to be heading to victory as goals from Yossi Benayoun and Javi Guerrero sandwiched a penalty from Albert Luque. However, Depor were not done and 'El Rifle' popped up late in the day to pinch a point.

Atletico Madrid got the better of Osasuna, but they were made to work far harder than it looked at one stage.

Goals from Fernando Torres and Salva had Atletico cruising, but Valdo handed Osasuna lifeline just before the break.

Gonzalo Colsa gave Atletico a cushion and they never surrendered their advantage despite Richard Morales reducing the arrears with 15 minutes remaining.

The game between Levante and Getafe ended goalless.
