Valdo out until February

Osasuna will be without influential midfielder Valdo for up to six weeks.

Osasuna will be without influential midfielder Valdo for up to six weeks.

Valdo was hurt during the weekend's clash with Real Madrid after being injured in a challenge with Roberto Carlos.

He was unhappy with the Brazilian full back's tackle and criticised the attitude of the Real Madrid star.

Tests have now shown that Valdo has damaged ligaments in his ankle, although he will not require an operation to fix the problem.

Valdo will be out for at least three weeks and high-flying Osasuna fear he may not return until February.

Jorge Fernandez de Prado, head of medical services at Osasuna, feels the injury will heal without the need for surgery.

De Prado said: "At first we have discarded the possibility of an operation since the tests indicate stability in the ankle and we thought that, with preservative treatment, we will obtain a good result."
