Derby claim first Westley win

Adam Bolder scored inside two minutes to give Derby a 1-0 victory against Plymouth.

Adam Bolder scored the only goal of the game inside two minutes to give Derby a 1-0 victory against ten-man Plymouth.

No sooner had the Pride Park faithful got comfortable in their seats when they were all back up leaping for joy at Bolder's goal, which would eventually be the match winner.

Alan Wright and Tommy Smith combined down the left to cross for Bolder, who sent a looping header back across goal to give Derby the early advantage.

David Norris was the main outlet for the visitors throughout the game but he spurned numerous opportunities to get an equaliser both before and after the break.

After not looking like being able to trouble Lee Camp in the first half, Norris finally forced excellent stops out of the Derby goalkeeper in the second half, Camp keeping the former Bolton man out on two separate occassions.

Hopes of a Plymouth comeback were all-but ended on 73 minutes when defender Paul Connolly was given his marching orders for a second booking.

The red card took all the sting out of the visitors and Derby were not troubled again as they recorded their first victory under caretaker manager Terry Westley.
