Fulham star Moritz Volz is set to return to first-team training after a frustrating two months on the sidelines.

Versatile German aims to force way back into Sanchez's plans

Fulham full-back Moritz Volz is set to resume full training and hopes to return stronger than ever after a frustrating two months on the sidelines. A series of injuries has kept the German out of action, but after some much-needed rest and rehab, he made his comeback on Wednesday night in a strong Cottagers reserve side that ran out comfortable 3-0 winners against Portsmouth. And he has targeted the next fortnight to achieve match fitness. "It got to the stage where all these problems added up and led to new ones. I couldn't cope with it anymore," admitted Volz, who has suffered from a long-term shoulder injury as well as groin trouble and a bruised foot. "My priority has been working hard; doing all I can to get fit as quick as possible. "Over the last two weeks I've had treatments, mainly on my back, and I feel good now." Volz is now concentrating on forcing his way back into boss Lawrie Sanchez's plans. "I've got some extra fitness work to do for the next two weeks to get match fit again, and then, once I'm fit and available for selection, I've got another task on my hands - getting into the team."
