Port Vale have completed the signing of Gareth Owen on loan from Stockport County with a view to a permanent move.
The League Two club tried to sign the defender last month only for Owen to opt for a loan spell at Yeovil Town.
Owen has now accepted a move to Vale Park and is looking forward to making his mark for Dean Glover's side as he prepares for his debut against Barnet on Tuesday night.
"It took some deliberating over the weekend and towards the end of last week, but the impression the manager, the chairman and (chief scout) Ray Williams have made on me made the decision quite easy really and I am pleased to be here," Owen told the club's official website.
"I almost joined a few weeks ago, before going out on loan at Yeovil, but was impressed how they persevered. They kept asking me how I was doing and they kept in contact.
"I played regularly at Yeovil and put in some good performances, but having come back here to Port Vale and having a chat with Dean, it made me realise my permanent basis in the future could lie here.
"My first aim is to get into the team and make sure the manager picks me, first and foremost, and after that, doing what is best for Port Vale."
The 26-year-old was also reportedly still wanted by Yeovil, with Crewe, Bradford and Bury also keen, leaving Vale boss Glover delighted with the deal.
Glover said: "I'm over the moon to get Gareth. For him to come here when other clubs were interested is a big coup for us."
