Veteran shot-stopper proud of performance versus Villa

Doncaster Rovers veteran Neil Sullivan has beamed at his and his team-mates' performance in their FA Cup fourth-round tie against Aston Villa. Championship club Rovers impressed versus their Premier League opponents as they battled for a 0-0 draw, with the encounter to be replayed at Villa Park on 4th February. Goalkeeper Sullivan, who turns 39 next month, made a number of top saves to deny Villa on Saturday, and has expressed his optimism that Donny can cause an upset in the Midlands. "It proves I'm still able to offer something to the game," Sullivan said.

Enjoyment

"The manager (Sean O'Driscoll) obviously thinks so because he keeps picking me. "But I'm still enjoying it, still having a good time, and I'm lucky enough to be at a club like Donny. "I'm obviously getting on a bit now, but I love my job and I'll carry on, and hopefully I'll keep doing well. "If you enjoy getting out of bed in the morning to go to work, then there can't be too much wrong. "Certainly to perform well against a Villa side that was as strong as they could field, has made me proud. To compete against them was first class."
Tough
He added: "It wasn't a fluke or a one-off because we passed the ball well and created some good chances against a team challenging for a place in the UEFA Champions League. "It will give us confidence for the replay to know we've competed against them, but it's going to be tough. "We're not going to kid ourselves that just because we've had one good performance that we're going to turn up and everything will be the same. "We're going to have to work hard, get a bit of luck, and then you never know."
