Jonny Tuffey has spoken of how he intends to keep pushing Maik Taylor for the Northern Ireland goalkeeper's jersey.
Birmingham stopper Taylor, 37, notched up his 76th cap in the province's fantastic 3-2 World Cup qualifying win over Poland on Saturday, which sent Nigel Worthington's side to the top of Group Three.
The veteran is set to keep the shirt for Wednesday's qualifier against Slovenia - which is being shown live on Sky Sports 3 at 7.45pm - but Partick Thistle's Tuffey and Linfield's Alan Mannus are providing competition.
Tuffey, 22, who earned his only cap in the 2-0 defeat to Hungary last November, said: "It is fantastic to be in the company of someone like Maik Taylor, who has so much experience.
"Maik's form in recent campaigns has been second to none. But it is up to me and Alan Mannus to keep pushing him and keep taking steps forward.
"You always get something out of training under (goalkeeping coach) Fred Barber and feel better for it.
"The great thing is you are always made to feel part of things, whether you are on the bench or not. The most important matter is I am here and involved."
