Cheltenham Town striker Lloyd Owusu is hoping to be offered a permanent contract by Brighton & Hove Albion.
Owusu has scored seven goals in 14 appearances for Brighton and was a key figure in the club's successful climb away from relegation.
With Cheltenham dropping into League Two, the 32-year-old is eager to sign a long-term deal at the Withdean Stadium.
Seagulls boss Russell Slade is due to make a decision on Owusu's future next Tuesday, with the forward eager to play for as long as possible.
He told Brighton's official website: "If there is a contract available, I would love to stay with Brighton.
"I want to play on until I am 40. I didn't become a pro until I was 21 and I see people like Paul Furlong, who has just got a one-year contract at 40, as an inspiration.
"There's plenty of petrol left in the tank and if I can look after myself as I have been, then I can do it."
