Millwall boss Kenny Jackett has confirmed there has been no fresh interest in Zak Whitbread since Peterborough United pulled out of a deal.
Peterborough had an offer accepted for Whitbread last month, but failed to agree personal terms with the former Liverpool youngster.
The Championship club have now ended their interest in the American, who is keen to secure a move to the second tier.
Jackett is disappointed that Whitbread wants to leave The Den and admits Millwall are waiting for fresh offers for the 25-year-old.
"We're disappointed with that, but that's his view," Jackett told Sky Sports News of Whitbread's decision to ask for a move. "We have to get on with it.
"Peterborough made an offer and got some way down the road towards accepting that and agreeing it, but it has broken down on his personal terms.
"I believe now that the interest is dead and we have had no other bids for him during the course of this summer."
Whitbread believes he needs to clinch a transfer to a Championship club in order to boost his prospects of claiming a place in the United States' World Cup squad.
"It's something I've always aspired to," said Whitbread.
"I need to step up to that level and try and prove myself there, especially with the World Cup next year for the States. That level I think is a lot more recognised."
