Sebastien Bassong will be eligible to make his competitive Tottenham Hotspur debut against Liverpool on Sunday.
There were fears in the Spurs camp that the Frenchman would be forced to sit out their opening fixture of the new campaign as he served a suspension.
Having been dismissed in the penultimate game of last season, while with former club Newcastle, the 23-year-old sat out just one match last term.
He then signed for Spurs prior to Newcastle's Championship opener at West Brom on Saturday.
However, Bassong has been informed that his ban is deemed to have been completed and he is free to take his place in Harry Redknapp's plans this weekend.
"Sebastien Bassong will be available for selection for our Premier League season opener against Liverpool on Sunday," read a statement released by Tottenham on Monday.
It continued: "Given he served the first game of his ban against Aston Villa on the final day of the previous campaign as a Newcastle player, it meant the suspension continued to apply to Newcastle games and was therefore satisfied when his former club visited West Brom on the opening day of the Championship season on Saturday."
