Defender signs three-year deal at Ricoh Arena

Coventry have completed the signing of Martin Cranie from Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee. As revealed by skysports.com earlier this week Coventry had lined up a move for Cranie as they look to fill the void left by Scott Dann and Daniel Fox's departures this summer. Cranie has penned a three-year deal with the Sky Blues after passing a medical and will provide much-needed cover due to his ability to play either centre-half or at right-back. "It feels great to be here to be honest and hopefully now I am here I can impress," said Cranie. "I've been out on loan in the Championship before so I know what this league is all about. It's a bit more physical and frantic than the Premier League but it's still an exciting league to be in and hopefully I can help Coventry push towards promotion." Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman was delighted to land the England Under-21 international. "Martin's a player we've liked for some time, he's young and he's got it all ahead of him. He's proven himself at England Under-21 level so he has the kind of quality we want to bring here and I'm very much looking forward to working with him," said Coleman.
