16-year-old signs two year scholarship at Turf Moor

Burnley have confirmed the signing of teenage prodigy Joe McKee from Scottish outfit Livingston. The 16-year-old striker has signed a two-year scholarship with the Clarets after spending time with the Youth Development programme over the summer. The Scot boasts an impressive scoring rate for Livingston's title winning Under 19 side with 13 goals in 17 starts, bringing him to the attention of compatriot Owen Coyle. McKee is highly regarded by the Turf Moor staff and Director of Youth Development Martin Dobson is delighted to have the youngster on board. "Joe came down during pre-season for an extended period and liked the area and the coaching," Dobson told Burnley's official website. "He settled quickly in the new environment and his parents were also comfortable with their son coming to Burnley Football Club, which we are delighted about. "The Youth Department is also very pleased that Joe has agreed to join the Scholarship scheme as a first year trainee. He added: "He is the right type of player with very good ability, a great attitude and we look forward to a successful relationship."
