Defender set to become one of the Baggies' top earners

West Bromwich Albion defender Jonas Olsson is set to sign a two-year contract extension at The Hawthorns. The 26-year-old was linked with Aston Villa in the summer, but he is to commit to the Baggies by adding to the two years remaining on his existing deal. Roberto Di Matteo's side sit top of the Championship and Olsson is delighted to be set to stay and help the club in their pursuit of a return to the Premier League. The centre-back, who will become one of the Baggies' top earners, told Fotbollskanalen: "I had two years left and will sign for an additional two. "I really enjoy it at the club and have got a great deal. "I have an important role in the team and it feels good to have the support from the new manager (Di Matteo). I feel that I am one of the cornerstones of the team." Asked if it was important that he would be rubbing shoulders with West Brom's highest paid players, Olsson said: "That is one of the reasons why I am signing this new deal."
