Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer insists he would still love to manage the club once again.
The former England international took charge of his beloved club at the end of last season, but was unable to prevent them from suffering Premier League relegation.
He was expected to stay on this season but, after owner Mike Ashley failed to find a buyer, caretaker Chris Houghton stayed on at the helm.
Shearer concedes that if the circumstances were right at St James' Park then he would love another crack at the job, although he is not limiting his options just to Newcastle.

"I would still like to be the manager of Newcastle again one day," he told the
Sunday Mirror.
"If the situation came around and everything was right and in place then without a doubt I would love to give it another go. But that's not up to me.
"It's not just a job at Newcastle, though, because if the right post came along somewhere else I would definitely look at it too.
"I would love to go back (to Newcastle) but let's make this clear, I'm not connected to any bids. And nobody has said to me, 'If I get in and buy the football club I want you to be the manager'."
Owen decision
Meanwhile, Shearer says he would take Michael Owen to next summer's World Cup finals, although he would not necessarily start him.
Shearer managed Owen at Newcastle last season and believes the 89-cap, 40-goal international striker would be a useful addition to Fabio Capello due his goalscoring instincts.
"You have to be honest and say if the squad was picked today Michael probably wouldn't go," he said.
"There's a lot of players that seem to be ahead of him and obviously the statistics show Michael's not starting games and he's not scoring.
"If it were my decision I would take him. I wouldn't start him, but I would take him.
"I just think with his record and with his predatory instincts it could come in handy in a World Cup."
