Jonny Evans believes Manchester United team-mate Michael Owen has shown he is capable of changing a game every time he plays.
Owen joined the Premier League champions on a free transfer from Newcastle United in the summer and was signed primarily to make an impact from the bench.
His first goal for the club came as a substitute in the 5-0 win at Wigan Athletic before he poached the dramatic stoppage-time winner in the Manchester derby last month.
The 29-year-old's goal in Tuesday's 2-0 Carling Cup win at Barnsley was the first time he has found the net for United after starting a game.
Evans has praised Owen's impact at Old Trafford and is confident that the former Liverpool star is capable of silencing the doubters.
"Every time Michael comes on he gets into really good positions," said Evans.
"He changed the game a bit for us on Sunday. It was the first time we really looked like getting in behind Liverpool.
"It was good for him against Barnsley to get another goal. It was a great finish from him. He made it look easy by passing the ball into the corner."
Evans is also predicting a bright future for 18-year-old striker Danny Welbeck, who opened the scoring early on at Oakwell before being substituted due to injury in the second half.
"Danny is improving all the time and learning from the first-team lads," added Evans.
"He is a fantastic talent and can go all the way. He is so hard to play against. He has great skill as well."
