Veteran facing ten days out

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Michael Gray faces a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. The former Sunderland and Blackburn man could be ruled out for 10 days after sustaining the injury in last Friday's defeat at Watford meaning he will miss this weekend's clash with Bristol City. Scans have eased Wednesday's worst fears the 35-year-old had suffered a tear and he is expected to be back in contention for the home match with QPR on Saturday week. Owls boss Brian Laws is relieved that the injury is not more serious for Gray. "We've had Michael scanned - there's no tear, which is good news; it's just a strain," Laws told the Sheffield Star. "It might be a 10-day one. It would be a big loss to us, but it's not as bad as we thought it might be, and we know that Michael is someone who recovers quickly." Meanwhile, Leon Clarke, who missed the 4-1 defeat at Vicarage Road with a knee injury, is hoping to be in the reckoning for the game at Ashton Gate while Akpo Sodje is nursing an ankle problem.
