Birmingham defender Scott Dann believes his boyhood heroes Liverpool will be a tough nut to crack despite their dip in form.
The Blues travel to Anfield in search of just their fourth League win this term after a troubled start.
Liverpool, though, have had a rocky ride themselves and have lost six of their last eight games in all competitions.
Dann, who was born on Merseyside, says he expects Rafa Benitez's side to come good soon enough with so many quality players in their line-up.
The 22-year-old, though, admits he hopes Birmingham can take advantage of the Reds' dip in form when they meet on Monday.
"I think this is just a blip for Liverpool," he said. "I think they've won only one out of eight and they've got too many good players to be losing that many games.
"They're missing the big players and, when you miss your better players, then you won't get as many results.
"In a way, it gives you a lift, knowing that they've got quite a few players out, and knowing that you've got more chance of getting a result.
"But the longer that their poor run goes on, then they'll be trying extra hard to turn it around. It can work both ways but we've just got to stick to our own game.
"I think they'll start picking up soon - but hopefully it's after our game with them."
Birmingham head into Monday's tie in confident mood having held Manchester City to a goalless draw at St Andrews last time out.
Before that, they beat Sunderland 2-1on home soil, ending a losing run of four games.
"In the last two games, we've put in two good performances and picked up points and we deserved to beat Manchester City," added Dann.
"We've shown what we are capable of, not just in the last two games but in previous games where we haven't got the results or points that we deserved.
"We've just got to keep that confidence up and hopefully show what we can do at Anfield."
