Michael Tonge has explained that his frustration at a lack of first-team football at Stoke was the reason for a loan move to Preston.
The former Sheffield United winger has dropped down to the Championship until the end of December after being frozen out at the Britannia Stadium this season.
Tonge had failed to make one of Tony Pulis' Premier League matchday squads during the current campaign and his disappointment was the factor in his switch to Preston.
The 26-year-old featured on a relatively regular basis in 2008/09, but he did not want to continue to watch from the fringes in Stoke's second Premier League term.
He told The Sentinel: "It's been frustrating for me from a footballing perspective because everybody wants to play.
"Last season I was involved in most of the games, but this season I've not figured, so it's disappointing.
"It's the first time I've moved and they're really a good group of lads down there at Stoke."
Tonge looks set to make his Preston debut in Monday's clash with Newcastle, which can be seen live on Sky Sports 1 and HD1.
