Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar could make a timely return from injury in Sunday's Merseyside derby, live on Sky Sports 1 and HD1.
The South Africa international has not featured since the end of September when he suffered a knee problem in the 1-0 victory away to Portsmouth and was carried off at Fratton Park.
Toffees boss David Moyes has seen his side decimated by injuries this term and Everton's 3-0 defeat at Manchester United on Saturday leaves them just four points above the drop zone.
Pienaar is due to return to training this week and, provided he suffers no reaction, could then be in contention to tackle flagging Liverpool at Goodison Park.
Moyes told the Liverpool Echo: "Steven is the only one who is near coming back. He will hopefully train this week and we'll take it from there."
Everton travel to the KC Stadium to tackle Hull City in midweek and the Scot has called on his side to get back to winning ways prior to their derby date after a limp display at Old Trafford.
He admitted: "It's important we pick ourselves up.
"I've been here (Old Trafford) many times and lost with Everton but there's been a lot of games where I've thought we played really well and were unfortunate not to come away with something.
"But not on Saturday."
