Loan ace faces suspension despite game being called off

The Football Association has confirmed Barnsley's Nathan Doyle must serve a one-game ban after being booked in Saturday's abandoned game at Plymouth. Doyle, who is on loan from Hull, received his fifth yellow card of the season at Home Park but expected the caution not to count after referee Gavin Ward called the match off 13 minutes into the second half due to a waterlogged pitch. Neither the result of the game - which Barnsley led 4-1 at the time - nor any of the goals scored will stand - but disciplinary chiefs have confirmed the 22-year-old will miss Saturday's league game at Blackpool. The news will come as a blow to Tykes boss Mark Robins as Doyle has impressed since his arrival from Hull in September.
