Arsene Wenger has confirmed his liking for Edin Dzeko, but insisted Arsenal cannot afford to buy the Wolfsburg striker.

But Arsenal boss is not confident of signing a striker

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits his striking options in January will be limited as he looks unlikely to make bids for either Edin Dzeko or Marouane Chamakh. Wenger has revealed his liking for Bosnian star Dzeko, whilst his interest in Bordeaux star Chamakh is long-standing. The Arsenal boss has confirmed that he wants a striker in January with Robin van Persie possibly ruled out for the whole campaign. But he admits his options are looking limited. "Let's not dream too much," he said. "In January you need to find a world-class player, who has not played in the Champions League, so we need a very good Christmas. "I am not a big fan of January, that's why I say I will be on the market but that doesn't mean that I will buy. "To find the players who have not played in the Champions League, who are world-class, who are available, I wish you good luck." On Wolfsburg star Dzeko, he said: "I like the player." "But they fly too high right now - price-wise." And likewise he confirmed that Bordeaux would not be about to release Chamakh. "He is not available, their [Bordeaux's] chairman says that," explained Wenger. "They are top of their group in the Champions League. Why should they sell him now?" "They will not get a lot of money [because he is out of contract in the summer]. "How for their fans can they sell one of their best players in the middle of the season when they are in an excellent position?"
