Marseille defender Souleymane Diawara has apologised for the tackle that sidelined Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo for two months.
The world's most expensive player damaged his ankle following a challenge by Diawara in their UEFA Champions League meeting in September.
Although Diawarra appeared to win the ball, his follow-through caught Ronaldo forcing him into a short spell on the sidelines.
Ronaldo has only recently returned to action, however, he is set for a swift reunion with Marseille with the teams due to meet in France on Tuesday.
Diawarra insists there was no malice or intent with his tackle and that he never meant to hurt the former Manchester United star.
"It was in the heat of the game, nothing more, I'm not a violent player, I've never hurt anyone," Diawara told Marca.
"I'll greet him and tell him that I regret (what happened) but Ronaldo is a good person, a great footballer who knows very well that I didn't want to hurt him."
