Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton insists there will be no swap between Steven Taylor and Manchester United's Federico Macheda.
Reports over the weekend suggested that Taylor and Red Devils striker Macheda could swap clubs on loan until the end of the season.
But Hughton has dismissed suggestions Taylor could be on his way to Old Trafford.
"Steven Taylor will not be going to Manchester United - the story is absolute nonsense," he said.
"I can't imagine where that has come from or who dreamed that one up."
Hughton insists that the likes of Taylor and Andy Carroll - who has also been linked with a move away from the club - will not be sold when the transfer window opens.
Last January, Shay Given and Charles N'Zogbia departed St James' Park - before the likes of Habib Beye, Sebastien Bassong and Obafemi Martins moved on in the summer.
Hughton, though, insists there will be no sales of their star men.
"The truth is I do not anticipate anybody leaving in January," he said.
"Nobody will be going from my point of view, and we are working to bring people in more than anything else at this club.
"We certainly don't want to sell Andy Carroll or Steven Taylor."
