Paul Peschisolido is optimistic he has made a breakthrough in his efforts to keep on-loan goalkeeper Artur Krysiak at Burton.
The Poland Under 19 international's loan spell from Birmingham expires on 2nd January.
A plan to make the move permanent fell by the wayside last month and Albion subsequently baulked at a suggestion from the Premier League club that they should pay a loan fee.
However, a compromise deal which will see Burton pay a higher proportion of the player's wages now seems likely.
"I've spoken with (Birmingham manager) Alex McLeish and he thinks it will happen if we contribute a bit more," Peschisolido said.
The Canadian is keen to keep Krysiak after Shane Redmond broke a bone in his hand leaving veteran coach Kevin Poole as the club's only other keeper.
