Port Vale have agreed personal terms with Lewis Haldane and are now waiting for the forward to strike a severance deal with Bristol Rovers before he completes a permanent move.
Haldane, 24, arrived at Vale Park at the start of September and spent three months on loan, scoring one goal in 20 appearances while chipping in with some impressive displays.
He has continued to train with the club even after his agreement came to an end at the start of December and Rovers are unlikely to stand in his way of a move to Burslem, provided they can come to an amicable settlement.
Vale manager Micky Adams told Radio Stoke: "We've agreed terms with Lewis and he's happy to stay. It's up to him, his agent and his club to come to some sort of severance package that suits all parties.
"We're hoping that it will be done in the next couple of days."
