Swansea City boss Paulo Sousa has confirmed he has made a decision over the future of Lee Trundle, but will wait before making an announcement.
Trundle's loan from Bristol City expires after Monday's game against Crystal Palace and he is keen to stay at the Liberty Stadium.
The striker has been informed of Sousa's intentions about a possible deal, but the Portuguese is playing a waiting game regarding a public declaration.
"I've spoken already with Lee and I know what I'm going to do, but you (the press) will need to wait to see what is going to happen," said Sousa.
The 33-year-old is Swansea's joint-top scorer in the Championship this season, despite only starting one game and is desperate to stay in South Wales.
Trundle said: "Leaving now would be the worst thing that could happen to me.
"I made a choice to leave Swansea last time. It was a football decision and it was about playing at the highest level possible.
"But I realise now that once you leave a club, it's not always the same.
"Swansea is where I enjoy my football and where I enjoy my life."
