Peter Halmosi has no plans to leave Hull City in January, but accepts he may be forced to move on in the summer.
The Hungary international has fallen out of favour at the KC Stadium and was not even named in Phil Brown's matchday squad for Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Manchester United.
His frustrations have led to reports that he could be offloaded during the winter transfer window, with Hull known to be keen to trim their wage bill.
Sheffield United, Ipswich, Coventry and Halmosi's former employers Plymouth are all said to be interested.
The 30-year-old midfielder insists he is not looking to secure a switch in the coming weeks, but admits that he cannot afford to waste time at a club where he is surplus to requirements.
"Honestly, I don't plan to leave the club in January," Halmosi told
NB1.hu.
"A two or three-month loan spell could be a possibility but I would only be keen on deals until the end of the season.
Bemused
"I would only leave if another club is willing to buy out my contract. The season is very long, but if my situation doesn't change then I might have to leave.
"I haven't spoken to Phil Brown about things like this since I have been here. However, at the beginning of the season we had a conversation and he said that this might be my season. The emphasis appears to be on the words 'might be'."
He added: "Since I have been here I have only missed one training session so no-one can say that I am in bad form or bad condition.
"I was bought for £2.5million and I only played 24 games in the first season. I then only played 18 in the Premier League, starting just four games. What is strange is that the manager kept telling me I was very good.
"What is strange for me is that I don't know why Hull City wanted me so much.
"My future will now be decided in May. The Premier League season will be finished and the European Championship qualifiers don't start until September.
"If my situation doesn't change at Hull I will look to make the next step. By the time the qualifiers start I hope I will be at a team where I am playing regularly."
