Heurelho Gomes has expressed his delight after producing a stunning performance on his return to Craven Cottage.
The Tottenham goalkeeper made a calamitous mistake in the corresponding fixture last season as he endured a difficult start to his Premier League career.
But the Brazilian has looked much more assured in recent months and pulled off a number of fine stops in the goalless draw against Fulham on Boxing Day.
He admits it was hard to receive such fierce criticism when he first joined Spurs and believes staying fully fit has helped him overcome his problems.
"People think just about the mistakes. It means because of that they forget the second half in that game, when I made some saves," Gomes said in The Sun.
"But this time I played well for the whole game.
"It was a tough period, a difficult time. It's not easy when you come to the Premier League for the first time.
"I feel like I've put that behind me now after this performance.
"When I started, I had lots of problems with my ribs, my hand, everything.
"But when I am fit, I know I can play like I did here."
Harry Redknapp was concerned about Gomes' form when he took charge at Tottenham and brought in Tony Parks as goalkeeping coach.
Gomes admits he could not have turned the corner without Parks, saying: "I give Tony all the credit because he has worked hard with me. He is a great man and helped me a lot."
Gomes is now hoping to play his part in Spurs' push for a place in next season's UEFA Champions League.
He said: "It's important to try to make home advantage tell and get three points most of the time.
"But if you can go away and still look for the win, even if you only end up with one point like we got at Fulham, then I think you can finish in the top four."
