Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson says he is focusing his attention on domestic matters, despite reported interest from England manager Fabio Capello.
Capello is believed to have made enquiries about the youngster, who has enjoyed a fine first season in the Premier League under Steve Bruce.
Henderson is yet to receive a call-up to the England Under 21 squad, but Capello has already decided he is one to watch for the future.
And the 19-year-old said he will not let talk of an international call go to his head.
Henderson told The Journal: "A few people have told me the England coach has been asking about me, but I am not taking that on board too much.
"I just want to play for this club and give everything I have. Whatever comes extra is brilliant, but it gives me great confidence to know I have caught his eye.
"I don't really know what Capello has said, but people have told me that. Darren Bent told me he asked what my height was, but I cannot get carried away.
"My friends will not let me get carried away. I have to keep doing the things I have been doing and hope to catch his eye."
Henderson has enjoyed a surprise run in Bruce's starting XI as the Black Cats look to finish in the top half of the table and push for a Europa League place.
Recent form has been poor though, and the Black Cats' last win came six games ago when they beat Arsenal at the Stadium of Light.
But Bruce has resisted the temptation to tinker with his line-up and Henderson praised his manager for sticking by him during the downturn of form.
He added: "I suppose I am still coming to terms with how well the season is going for me. As a team we still feel we could be higher up the table and we have players coming back who can get us there.
"I have to keep my feet on the ground, but I have been doing okay. The gaffer has been brilliant with me.
"He has shown complete confidence in me and I am just trying to repay him and my team-mates who have helped me. I just want to keep working hard for them and keep going forward."
