Luke Young does not want Aston Villa to dwell on the festive period setback to their UEFA Champions League ambitions.
The full-back has started in Villa's last two games as they have lost to Premier League top-four rivals Arsenal and Liverpool in significant defeats with regards to the race for next season's European Cup.
Martin O'Neill's side have received widespread praise for their performances this campaign, but the cold facts are that they are now only two points above seventh-placed Liverpool, who have been heavily criticised throughout the campaign.
Young hopes that there has been no long-term psychological damage to Villa as a result of the defeats to the Gunners and the Reds and wants concentration to switch to FA Cup third round and Carling Cup semi-final meetings with Blackburn.
He said: "Everyone was disappointed in the dressing room but we can't let the last two results ruin the great run we've had.
"It's time to regroup now and look forward to the tough month we've got coming up. Let's get over this one and look forward to the weekend.
"We've got to look forward. If you start dwelling on results like the Liverpool one, it's the worst thing you can do. You can start beating yourself up.
"We've seen in the league this season that teams are taking points off each other left right and centre.
"It's going to go all the way down to the end for this final Champions League spot and we hope to be right in among them. We want this to make us stronger."
