Colchester United manager Adrian Boothroyd has confirmed that on-loan striker Kevin Lisbie is staying for now.
The forward's future had been uncertain after his loan spell with United expired following their 2-1 win over Southampton in League One on 28th December.
As Lisbie was the club's leading scorer with 10 league goals from 22 appearances Boothroyd was desperate to ensure he did not return to Ipswich in January.
Boothroyd admits the Lisbie situation will be an ongoing issue for now, but as far as he is concerned he is now set to remain at Colchester until the summer.
"I was delighted to get the call from Ipswich to say that Kevin could continue with us," Boothroyd told the club's official website.
"The situation is ongoing but he is with us now until the end of the season unless Ipswich tell us otherwise.
"That's the matter closed as far as I am concerned, until it is opened again!"
When questioned whether Lisbie would be interested in returning to Ipswich he believes that chapter of his career is now closed.
Lisbie is pleased he is staying with Colchester for now and is hoping to start against Yeovil in league action this weekend.
"I think my ties with Ipswich were broken a long time ago," Lisbie told the Green'Un24.
"Things are changing day by day, and knowing my life, it could all change again in the next 24 hours.
"I haven't done anything since January 1, but I am back training with Colchester and I hope to be playing for them at Yeovil this weekend, if selected.
"I'd also love to play against Norwich City the following Saturday. That's going to be such a big game."
