Midfielder turns loan switch into permanent move

Carlisle have completed the permanent signing of Chelsea youngster Tom Taiwo. Taiwo had been on loan at Carlisle and he impressed during his stint at Brunton Park. Carlisle agreed a deal with Chelsea to make the move permanent and they have beaten off interest from a number of other clubs to secure the midfielder's signature. Taiwo, who has made 28 appearances for the club, has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal after agreeing personal terms. Cumbrians boss Greg Abbott was delighted to keep hold of the highly-rated 19-year-old.

Committed

"Tom is exactly the type of player that we want at this club," Abbott told the club's official website. "We have seen from the games that he has played that he is committed and always gives 100 per cent and he has thoroughly enjoyed his time with us. "We are now looking forward to working with him and watching him improve even further, because we think he has a heck of a lot still to give." Taiwo is happy to make the move to Carlisle and has praised Abbott for giving him a chance to play on a regular basis. "I know Greg Abbott really well and he has been fantastic with me," said Taiwo. "He has shown a bit of faith in me and given me first team football, and hopefully I have repaid that in the way that I have played. "The lads have been brilliant with me and there was no hesitation at all in making this decision."
