Championship strugglers want more additions

Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has revealed the club are looking to sign four players before the next game. The Posh are currently rooted to the bottom of the Championship table and new manager Mark Cooper has the difficult task of steering them to safety this season. Lower-league strikers Chris O'Grady, Marvin Morgan, Brett Pitman and Izale McLeod have all been linked with a move to London Road, but Fry admits it has been a difficult start to the transfer window. "It has been a very frustrating start to the transfer window due to the weather because we lined up four new signings to come in before the next game, but they haven't been finalised yet, so whether we will get them in before the next game is hit and miss," he told skysports.com. "At the moment there are four key areas that we would like to strengthen in and they are a striker, midfielder, winger and a right-back. "I'm confident that we can do those deals sooner rather than later because the initial contact has been made with the relevant clubs and we are going through the stages of a deal already. "Obviously, we are still hoping to let a few players go, but the main thing for us is to strengthen because we are currently bottom of the table. "Mark (Cooper) has had six or seven weeks to identify which areas he is keen to strengthen and the chairman is backing him just as he did with Darren Ferguson, so it is my job to complete the deals. "A striker is one of those key areas to strengthen, but I can't confirm the identity of our targets until the deals are completed." Peterborough's game against Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend has been called off for safety reasons because of conditions outside Hillsborough, so their next game is against Derby next Saturday. Posh have finalised the permanent signing of Josh Simpson this week and have also brought in Reuben Reid on loan from West Brom.
