Manchester United striker Federico Macheda is wanted by Serie A side Bologna, but a move for the youngster is unlikely to materialise.
The strugglers want to bring the 18-year-old back to Italy on loan following the forward's restricted involvement for United during the current campaign.
Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be keen on loaning the player out to gain vital first-team experience having made just five appearances this term.
Agent Giovanni Bia has suggested a switch is unlikely to materialise though, and that the former Lazio man would remain at Old Trafford.
He told Tuttomercatoweb: "Bologna have asked for him but we have to evaluate things with Manchester United.
"This afternoon I have a telephone appointment with them, but it will be difficult for them to let him go. If they will do it would be on loan."
Macheda burst onto the scene last year when he scored a stoppage-time winner against Aston Villa on his debut.
The teenager then scored again less than a minute into his second match for United as a second-half substitute at Sunderland.
The Italian Under 21 international had also been linked with a move to Real Zaragoza, but Bia said the Spanish club had not contacted him.
Macheda joined United in 2007 and signed a new four-year contract at Old Trafford in December.
