Chris Sutton has dismissed reports that Dwight Yorke could join Lincoln City as he looks to extend the loan of Nathan Baker.
Speculation has claimed that former Aston Villa and Manchester United striker Yorke had been training with the League Two strugglers.
However, Imps boss Sutton insists Yorke, 38, will not be coming out of retirement to sign a contract at Sincil Bank.
Sutton said: "It's absolute nonsense. We could talk hypothetically about anyone really, Diego Maradona coming or whoever.
"It's nonsense. He was a great player, but he's retired and that's that."
Meanwhile, Sutton is keen to keep on-loan Aston Villa defender Baker until the end of the season.
The 18-year-old's stay at Sincil Bank expires on Friday when it reaches the maximum 93 days permitted by the Football League.
League regulations allow for short-term loans of up to that period to become long-term loans which can run for the length of the season, and that is what Imps boss Chris Sutton has in mind.
"He is one we want to keep and I hope we can hang on to him for the rest of the campaign," said Sutton.
Baker has made nine League Two appearances since joining Lincoln on loan in October.
