Middlesbrough are waiting to see if their bid for QPR ace Wayne Routledge is successful.

Strachan keen on signing winger

Skysports.com understands Middlesbrough are waiting to see if their bid for QPR ace Wayne Routledge is successful. Boro boss Gordon Strachan has made the former Tottenham and Crystal Palace winger one of his top targets in this month's transfer window. The Teesside outfit have sold Mark Yeates to Sheffield United and with growing doubts over Adam Johnson's future Strachan is keen to bolster his midfield options. Boro are believed to have tabled a bid in the region of £500,000 for Routledge with another £500,000 to be added on at the end of the season. It is unlikely QPR would accept Boro's current offer with the Loftus Road club holding out for more money to sell one of their top players. Meanwhile, Middlesbrough have sent trialist Dominique Kivuvu back to NEC Nijmegen after he failed to impress during his stint training at the club. Goalkeeper Nicky Weaver, who left Dundee United earlier this month, has also departed after a trial stint. Boro boss Strachan also confirmed that Argentine defender Norberto Paparatto, from Tigre, was no longer coming on trial.
