Michael Mancienne has ruled out the possibility of staying at Wolves on a permanent deal because he believes he can earn a place in Chelsea's first team.
The 22-year-old is currently in his second loan spell at Molineux and his performances have demonstrated a maturity and signs of development under Mick McCarthy.
Wolves have not discussed a permanent transfer with Mancienne and the defender, who showed versatility by playing in a holding midfield role against Liverpool on Tuesday, would not be interested.
The former Chelsea trainee believes he has progressed sufficiently to prove that he can compete for a roll at his parent club, but he does acknowledge that his loan time at Wolves has proved effective.
Asked if there was a chance of a full-time move to Molineux, Mancienne said: "I don't think so. I am definitely going back to Chelsea. I want to try and fight for my place.
Bigger opportunity
"I think I have a good chance of getting (in the team).
"I've just got to keep doing what I'm doing, and keep playing well, and then I think I'll give myself a bigger opportunity of playing in that team.
"I am enjoying playing week in and week out. That is what I need to better myself and improve as a footballer because I can't sit on the bench and improve."
Mancienne added: "I think I made the right decision (coming to Wolves). Coming to Wolves has improved me as a player. I am playing regular football in the best league in the world."
However, he has conceded that another season on loan at Wolves could be a possibility.
"Definitely," he said. "If that is what I've got to do, I'll do it. I'll do anything to play football."
