Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy insists that defender Will Haining will not be leaving the club any time soon after rejecting a bid for him earlier this week.
The former St Mirren centre-half has been linked with a return to Scotland in recent weeks, with St Johnstone said to be an admirer.
However, McIlroy told skysports.com that he has no intention of selling the 27-year-old unless a big opportunity arises.
He said: "There was never any chance of Will Haining leaving this football club, unless it was a club which I felt would take him up another step on the ladder and that wasn't the case.
"I had a call from a Scottish club about taking him on, but he is doing very well here and I have no intention of selling him any time soon."
The transfer window closed with little fuss at Christie Park, but McIlroy revealed that the loan window could see him begin the search for recruits.
He added: "I enquired about one or two, but nothing came off.
"However, the injuries are starting to ease up now, as Mullin, Jevons, Hunter and Wainwright have all had a chance to recover due to that winter break and they are all fighting fit now, so I've decided to stick with what I've got.
"Loans could be an option, but we will have to have a little look to see who is available when the loan window opens."
