Cristiano Ronaldo remains confident that Real Madrid will progress past Lyon despite their defeat in the first leg.
The French side will take a 1-0 advantage to the Santiago Bernabeu on 10th March thanks to a superb Jean Makoun strike on Tuesday.
Ronaldo accepts that Real will have to improve considerably to make it through to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals but that is precisely what he expects to happen.
"In football, everything is possible," said the Portuguese forward.
"In this competition you have to suffer, but I'm sure we'll give a great response in the next game and we'll win it.
"We'll have to be ready from the first minute. The tie isn't lost. We need to show on our home ground that we can do it."
Alvaro Arbeloa was also disappointed with the performance but insisted the players had not been complacent and looking ahead to the final.
"Us players are at fault, especially the 11 that were on the field," said the defender.
"We weren't precise. They played a good game. And us - one of the worst of the season."
Arbeloa added: "When we go on to the field we don't think about the final in Madrid.
"After five years of crashing out at this stage and after the investment that has been made, we know that we cannot be eliminated again."
