Reds star keen on successful run in Europe

Liverpool ace Javier Mascherano believes a good run in the Europa League can help their bid for a top-four finish in the Premier League. The Reds tackle Unirea Urziceni in Romania on Thursday holding a 1-0 lead from the first leg at Anfield. Liverpool are hoping to reach the last 16 of the Europa League and Mascherano is keen to go all the way in the competition as he looks to end a below-par campaign on a positive note "It is a really important game for us. We were talking about it for the last few days and it is really important we get through the last-32 stage," said Mascherano. "We will try to do our best and get through to the last 16. "We know when you have some good games for the players and the team it is always good to get confidence. "We were seven games unbeaten before the Arsenal game when we were playing some good football. "We now have to do our best to win something and at the moment this is the only competition we have chances in so we will try to think about this."

Form

Mascherano has recaptured his best form in recent weeks after a slow start to the campaign and the Argentine puts his resurgence down to feeling fit. "I don't talk too much about me. I am feeling very good now, in good form because maybe now I feel good in terms of fitness," added Mascherano. "That is good for me because my job is a physical job. I try to do my best always, sometimes I can and sometimes I cannot."
