Midfielder close to agreeing new deal

Blackburn are in talks with midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen over a new deal at Ewood Park. Pedersen, 28, has improved dramatically on last season's form having switched to a central-midfield role in recent weeks. He has been key to Rovers' season to date, so much so that they are keen to tie up his services for the foreseeable future. Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed that the club are in talks with the Norwegian star who he hopes will put pen-to-paper in the not-too-distant future.

Waiting

"Morten has a deal on the table and his representatives will be over, no doubt, to finalise that deal with the chairman in the next few days or weeks," said Allardyce. "We certainly hope he does agree terms and signs on for the next few years." The Rovers boss is keen to keep hold of his current string and admitted his delight in finalising a deal for young Canadian striker Junior Hoilett. The 19-year-old, who joined the Lancashire club aged 12, looks a definite prospect for the future according to Allardyce. He said: "It is one of the hardest and longest negotiations I have experienced but finally we have persuaded Junior that Blackburn is the place for him. "We're really looking forward to his future at Blackburn and hopefully seeing him develop into a fine player."
