Rangers manager Walter Smith has received a fitness boost ahead of Sunday's crucial Old Firm clash, with goalkeeper Allan McGregor set to return to action.
The 28-year-old was doubtful for the clash at Ibrox after being attacked following a night out last weekend, but has recovered from head injuries and is fit to play.
McGregor sustained injuries to his eye during the incident but could return between the sticks as Smith's charges bid to restore their 10-point advantage at the top of the Scottish Premier League.
Smith confirmed the player would not be disciplined following the incident, and, when asked if he was in the right frame of mind for such an important game, the Rangers boss replied: "I'm sure he will be."
McGregor has been no stranger to controversy off the pitch during his time with the Scottish champions and Smith hopes this latest incident will act as a harsh lesson.
He said: "It's not just happened to Allan McGregor in recent seasons, it's happened to quite a number, who are going out and about in places where they should know better than to go.
"Hopefully that will be a lesson for him."
But Smith has no complaints about McGregor's contribution to the team on the pitch.
He added: "Allan McGregor is just like a lot of other goalies - terrific in the goal, they just seem a bit wayward elsewhere.
"That's the way he is. He is not the first player in the world to be like that.
"There's got to be something the matter with them to want to play in goals anyway.
"He has been excellent for us and that's something that we have to take into account as well."
